HTC and JBL partner on USB Type-C-powered noise-cancelling headphones

JBL USB Type-C headphones

With HTC emphasizing the high-end quality of the sound featured in the recently HTC 10, it makes sense the company has partnered with JBL, one of the audio industry’s more reputable brands, for a pair of USB Type-C headphones.

The Reflect Aware C ear-buds, which were revealed alongside the HTC 10 earlier today, are created specifically with smartphone use in mind. The main draw here, though, is that the headphones feature a USB Type-C connector rather than the traditional 3.5mm plug found in many other headphones.

This also means that the headphones don’t require a independent power source and can be powered directly through the phone’s USB Type-C port. Finally, the Reflect Aware C headphones feature an in-line remote, allowing for easy volume adjustment, which comes in handy when answering voice calls through the headphones.

The headphones are powered by 14.8mm drivers and feature sweat proof ergonomic ear tips. It’s unclear if they’re coming to Canada but we’ve reached out to HTC to confirm. This story will be updated when we know more.
