Android N will let you set a different wallpaper for the lock screen

A Reddit user with access to the second developer preview of Android N has shared news that the update will give users the ability to change their lock screen and home screen wallpapers independently.

Google announced the second version of its developer preview yesterday with spotlights on features such as launcher shortcuts and new emojis, but didn’t mention this long-awaited feature change, which was shared in the Android subreddit.

The feature has been missing from Android since Lollipop was released in 2014, but many original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) had re-implemented the feature. A release in Android N will mark its return to stock Android.

Reddit commenters noted that this feature, amongst others, was part of CyanogenMod, an open-source operating system that modified Android versions to include extra features.

With all the Android N features revealed so far, some Reddit users commented that there may be no need for CyanogenMod in the future.
