Google wants you to help name Android N

At Google I/O 2016, Dave Burke, vice president of engineering at Google, stated, “One of the hardest parts is coming up with a name … We’re inviting the world to submit their ideas.”

Following the beta release of Android N, Google is giving up on naming its own version of Android and handing the keys to its users. Burke stated the only omission will be “Boaty McBoatface.” The OS, which should be Android 7.0, will officially be available later this summer.

Whatever the name of the next version of Android will be, it follows Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, Ice Cream Sandwich, Jelly Bean, KitKat, Lollipop, and Marshmallow.
