Apple Pay is finally available to customers at most of Canada’s major financial institutions.

BMO customers are able to connect a MasterCard or Interac debit card, TD Canada Trust works with Visa and Interac debit cards, while Scotiabank customers can use Apple Pay through a Visa, Amex, or Interac debit card.

The other addition to Apple’s payment platform in Canada is support for in-app purchases, giving users the ability to pay for physical goods within apps via Apple Pay. In-app payments are available now through ATB, Canadian Tire, CIBC, RBC, BMO, TD Canada Trust, Scotiabank, and American Express.

Apple Pay payments within apps are available through credit card – Visa, Amex, MasterCard – for the time being, while Interac support is set to launch at a later date.

Some of the apps that enable in-app purchases are the Apple Store, Kickstarter, Starbucks, HotelTonight, Uber, and Canadian-based photo album app Impressed.

Apple Pay is compatible with the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone SE, iPad Pro, iPad Air 2, iPad mini 4, iPad mini 3, and the Apple Watch when paired with the iPhone 5 or later.

“Soon you will be able to add your favourite store credit cards and rewards cards to Wallet — and use them to make purchases and redeem rewards with Apple Pay,” writes Apple in a statement on its official website.
