Rogers begins rolling out Android 6.0.1 to Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ smartphones

It’s been a long and arduous road for Galaxy S6 edge+ owners on Rogers, but after months of waiting Canada’s largest carrier has started rolling out the latest version of Google’s mobile operating system to edge+ smartphones on its network.

For the sake of comparison, edge+ owners on Telus and Bell have been sending taco emoji to their friends since the start of April.

Besides adding a bunch of standard Marshmallow goodies — like more granular permissions and Google’s new battery saving Doze feature — Samsung’s take on Android 6.0.1 also brings with it a more polished version of the company’s TouchWiz Android skin.

If you haven’t gotten a prompt to update to 6.0.1, pull down the notification shade, tap the cog icon, then scroll down to “About phone” and tap on “System updates”.

According to Rogers’ OS upgrade schedule page, the majority of Samsung’s other recent devices should be updated to 6.0.1 soon.

Thanks for the tip, John!
