Microsoft’s Worldwide Partner Conference is taking over Toronto this week

As the slow summer months in consumer technology kick in, big news doesn’t generally come out frequently, but that doesn’t mean tech stops completely. In fact, one of the biggest technology conferences of the year is going on in Toronto this week, the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference.

Representatives of top Microsoft partners from over 135 countries will be meeting from July 10th to the 14th at the Toronto Metro Convention Centre. There will be over 16,000 visitors to the city, and opening and closing keynotes will take place at the Air Canada Centre. In the next several days, over 300 technology networking events will be taking place throughout the city.

The MWP conference is expected to bring $70 million in additional spending to the city over the course of the week, and ultimately supports Canada and Toronto’s position as a global centre of technology innovation and entrepreneurship. 2016 marks the third time in 12 years that Toronto will be hosting the technology conference.
