Manulife Financial partners with artificial intelligence company to assist investors

Manulife Financial has announced a partnership artificial intelligence firm Nervana Systems.

This partnership will see these two companies build the “next generation of intelligent applications.” Manulife’s Lab of Forward Thinking (LOFT) will collaborate with Nervana to develop a deep learning tool to analyze the high volume of online information, financial news, emails, documents.

“The complexity of the financial markets and vast amount of data generated make deep learning an ideal fit for financial services companies,” said Naveen Rao, the CEO of Nervana Systems, in a statement.

“Nervana Cloud will help Manulife’s portfolio managers quickly organize, search and analyze new and historical financial data to make faster and more accurate investment decisions.”

Manulife plans to use deep learning systems to analyze data and make recommendations that could assist investment advisors, helping them make decisions faster than ever before.

The company has gone on to develop a network of LOFTs in Boston, Toronto and Singapore. The Toronto office is located in the MaRs Discovery District.

“This partnership with Nervana accelerates our development efforts and our understanding of this new technology,” said Greg Framke, the executive vice president and CIO of Manulife said in a statement. “Deep learning and artificial intelligence technologies have the potential to enhance research efforts in virtually all areas of the company.”
