Sony’s Xperia Ear voice assistant is out this November, in places not named Canada

Sony Xperia Ear

Initially revealed back at Mobile World Congress alongside the company’s Xperia X lineup, Sony’s Xperia Ear voice assistant finally has a release date. It will come out this November “starting in select markets,” though Sony has yet to say how much the device will cost.

The earpiece pairs to one’s smartphone via Bluetooth and allows the user to control to complete a variety of tasks using voice commands. For example, users will be able to compose SMS messages, search the web and check their schedule.

Rather than just depend on Google Now, the earpiece comes with Sony’s own “Agent” technology. Otherwise, Sony still hasn’t provided too much in the way of detailed information on exactly how the device works.

A Sony spokesperson told MobileSyrup in an email, “No Canadian timing or pricing details to share yet on the Xperia Ear.”
