Canadians start receiving Note 7 replacements and they don’t feature a ‘blue s’ [Update]

Update 09/16/16: Samsung Canada reached out to let us know that fixed Note 7s will feature different signifiers on each box depending on the region they are released in. In Canada specifically new Note 7s will feature a black square.

A few of our readers have reached out to let us know that they’ve begun receiving replacement Galaxy Note 7 devices.

Interestingly, however, replacement Note 7s don’t seem to have a blue ‘s’ on their box, at least according to our readers. Instead, rather than an ‘s,’ there’s a small black square located on the box.

Originally, Samsung stated that replacement devices would be shipping “as early as September 19th,” though some members of our community also said they received emails stating new devices could arrive by the 15th.

Earlier this week, Health Canada and Samsung announced an official recall of the Galaxy Note 7 related to issues causing the smartphone’s battery to overheat and catch fire. Samsung says it sold 2.5 million Note 7s between August 19th and September 1st, with 21,953 units sold in Canada.

A Reddit thread has also popped up where a number of Canadians state they’ve started receiving replacement devices.
