Leak suggest high-end BlackBerry DTEK60 handset is on the way

DTEK50

After the release of the DTEK50, it was unclear if BlackBerry would create another handset.

However, specs have appeared on BlackBerry’s official website that suggest the company could be working on a higher-end version of the DTEK50 called the DTEK60. While BlackBerry’s already taken the page down, The Next Web managed to grab the specs and a picture from a file called “specifications-a-donotpublish.html.”

While the DTEK60 has no physical keyboard, it’s specs hint at a fairly high-end device:

  • 5.5-inch 2560 x 1440 display
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 64-bit Quad-Core SoC
  • Adreno 530 GPU
  • 4 GB RAM
  • 32 GB storage
  • USB Type-C
  • 3000 mAh non-removable battery
  • QC3.0 (Quick Charge) Enabled
  • 21 megapixel rear camera
  • 8 megapixel front camera
  • Fingerprint sensor
  • Convenience key

The rumoured DTK60 was formerly known as the Argon and will likely precede a more conventional handset currently dubbed the Rome, which is set to be released later this year. In addition, the DTK60 will sport stock Android 6.0 Marshmallow coupled with BlackBerry’s suite of security software.

BlackBerry’s next earnings call is set for September 28th.
