Corus’ news radio stations are now available on Apple Music

Corus Entertainment announced today that its various radio stations are now available on Apple Music.

Listeners in over 100 countries can now stream Vancouver’s CKNW AM 980, Calgary’s News Talk 770, Edmonton’s 630 CHED, Winnipeg’s 680 CJOB, London’s AM 980, Hamilton’s AM 900 CHML and Toronto’s AM 640 with Apple Music on any of their Apple audio devices, including iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV and Apple Carplay.

According to a statement sent to MobileSyrup, Corus Radio is the first Canadian commercial radio company to make its way onto Apple Music. Apple Music is a streaming service that gives users access to Apple’s entire music streaming catalogue for $9.99 per month, or $14.99 per month for a family subscription.

“With Apple’s immense role in the music and technology space, we’re offering our audience the best possible listening experience on a wide variety of devices,” said Chris ‘Dunner’ Duncombe, director of digital at Corus Radio.

“Our goal is to deliver high quality programming on every platform that matters to our listeners and we are thrilled to be the first Canadian broadcaster to do so on Apple Music.”

Corus completed a $2.65 billion acquisition of Shaw media back in April, which granted it full ownership of the company’s media assets, including the broadcaster Global News.

Furthermore, streaming technologies have steadily become more and more popular options for audio and video consumption around the world. Streaming services like Apple Music, Spotify, and Amazon have accelerated the growth of this industry, forcing traditional media to adapt to these new mediums.

Corus will join the likes of BBC Radio, Bloomberg, NPR and ESPN on Apple Music.
