A look at the 2016 13-inch MacBook Pro with Touch Bar [Gallery]

Whether or not you think the 2016 MacBook Pro with Touch Bar is worth its hefty $2,299 CAD price tag, it’s difficult to deny that it isn’t an interesting attempt at reinventing how we interact with traditional laptops.

Our review unit 13-inch MacBook Pro with Touch Bar just arrived at the MobileSyrup office, so we snapped a few quick pictures to give you a closer look at Apple’s latest laptop.

The new MacBook Pro’s Force Touch TrackPad is massive, which makes it easier to access while maintaining the impressive accuracy Apple is known for.

The 13-inch Pro’s keyboard features the second-generation of Apple’s “Butterfly Keyboard” technology, a divisive mechanism that allows for less key travel. This new version feels more like a typical keyboard, though some users may still have issues with it.

The Touch pad’s quick access menu is very useful and customizable, allowing you to select the three functions you use most. Beside the Touch pad rests the fingerprint scanner, which can be used with some apps as well as to log you into the computer.

The 13-inch Pro measures in at 1.49cm in height, making in extremely thin, though not as thin as the Air. Its width is 21.24cm, followed by a weight of just 1.37kg.

Unlike the 13-inch MacBook — which we wrote about a few weeks ago — the Touch Bar iteration of Apple’s laptop features four USB-C ports. While USB-C is the future of connectivity, this means owners of the Pro will be forced to adopt the complicated dongle life.

While only a few apps feature Touch Bar functionality, those that actually do have a lot of potential. Though, it’s important to note that with some apps, most notably mail, the Touch Bar complicates things more than it probably should.

Some people aren’t a fan of the 13-inch 2016 MacBook with Touch Bar’s revamped butterfly keyboard, but I’ve really liked it.

Contrary to what some might have expected, the standard 3.5mm headphone jack is back in the 2016 MacBook.

The 13-inch 2016 MacBook with Touch Bar’s screen is vibrant, bright and measures in at 2880 x 1800, slightly above the regular new 13-inch MacBook’s 2560 x 1600 pixel screen.

Similar to all of Apple’s laptops, the new 13-inch Pro adopts a sleek profile.
