Facebook launches new camera for Messenger that lets users send 3D special effects

In response to the growing use of videos and images by users in Messenger, Facebook recently launched a new camera for the app with several added features.

The camera includes several new features such as art, 3D masks and other special effects. The added filters resemble Snapchat filters, and include themed filters for the holiday season.

In addition to filters, the new camera will include thousands of stickers, frames and 3D face masks for users to choose from, and will extend these features to text messages as well.messenger-camera

By clicking the palette icon by the shutter, the user will be taken to a canvas where they can add art and stickers to their text. The new feature will roll out globally over the next few days.

This past year has seen Facebook launch several Snapchat-like upgrades, such as Instagram’s live video and stories features.

Furthermore, Facebook has been notably pushing video content since its most recent F8 conference, and has since then gone lengths to promote its Live service Facebook Live and other video content on the platform.
