Hyundai Canada adds Apple CarPlay to three 2017 cars

Hyundai Canada has released an update that adds Apple CarPlay to three of its 2017 cars.

On its web site, the automotive manufacturer now lists the 2017 Santa Fe Sport, 2017 SantaFe XL and 2017 Elantra as vehicles that support the feature through a one-time free software update.

CarPlay is already available for the 2017 Sonata, 2017 Tucson, 2017 Elantra Gt, 2017 Elantra Sport models and will come to the 2017 IONIQ — EV (Electric) and 2017 IONIQ — HEV (Hybrid) cars when they release sometime in the future.

CarPlay integrates iPhone features and select apps with the touchscreen of Hyundai vehicles. Once their phones are plugged in, users can issue voice commands through Siri, make phone calls, reply to text messages, navigate through maps, listen to music and more.

Hyundai also offers an alternative to CarPlay for Android users called Android Auto.
