Snapchat parent Snap is reportedly working on a drone

Reports indicate that the parent company of social media giant Snapchat could be making a foray into the drone space.

The New York Times reports that the drone may be used to take photos or video, though it’s not clear when or if this technology will be made available to consumers.

This all comes as the company repositions itself as a camera supplier under the holding company Snap, a name change that indicated the brand’s intention to branch out into different products.

Another example of Snap’s push for new camera products are its new Spectacles, which are glasses designed to make taking video a part of everyday life, writes the Times.

Snap just recently filed for a $3 billion USD IPO with the New York Stock Exchange and is expected to price its shares at approximately $14 to $16 per share, which would value the company at $22.2 billion.

This report comes ahead of Snap’s initial public offering this week, before Snap starts trading on NYSE on Thursday.
