Pixel 2 is coming later this year and staying ‘premium,’ according to Google’s Rick Osterloh

On Thursday, Rick Osterloh, senior vice-president of hardware at Google, confirmed his company is working on a successor to the Pixel.

“There is an annual rhythm in the industry. So, you can count on us to follow it,” he said during a private press meeting at Mobile World Congress, according to Android Pit. “You can count on a successor this year, even if you don’t hear a date from me now.”

Osterloh went to say that the “Pixel stays premium” in response to questions about the possibility of a more affordable Pixel. The executive is said to have “stuck to his answer” when pushed on the subject.

If Google follows its past cadence, it’s likely we’ll see the Pixel 2 sometime this fall.
