Google Maps update lets users share their real-time location

A recent Google Maps update will soon let Android and iOS users worldwide share their real-time location with family, friends and other acquaintances.

The feature allows users to slide out the side menu or tap the blue dot marking where you are and select ‘share location.’

From there, users will be able to select with whom they want to share their location, and the length of time for which they’d like to do so ranging anywhere from 15 minutes to three days.

Maps will then share a link through the user’s messaging app of choice, where recipients can monitor the user’s real-time movement using an iPhone, Android phone, desktop or web browser.

According to Google, the service will be rolling out to users around the world in the near future, though no exact date has been given.
