Google Play Protect helps protect Android phones from harmful apps

Google Play Protect

Google has announced a Play Protect feature that safeguards Android phones by scanning for harmful apps.

Play Protect scans apps for various threats using machine learning and will keep the rogue ones off the device or remove them if they’re already there.

The idea behind the Play Protect is to make security on Android devices more transparent and inform the user that apps are being scanned.

Protect will also helps those who have misplaced their phones with a ‘Find My Device’ feature. With this option, users can locate, call, lock down or wipe their devices. This is also supported on Android Wear smartwatches.

It’s important to note that much of this is already pre-existing functionality, just referred to now under a new name and made more apparent in the Android OS.
