If you’ve ever wanted to live out a real-life Mario Kart experience, you may be in luck. Nintendo has filed a trademark application in the U.S. for “Super Nintendo World,” which may be the name of theĀ of the theme parks planned in collaboration with Universal. The partnership wasĀ announced in November 2016Ā and promises to bring attractions, restaurants and shops based on popular Nintendo properties.
The filingĀ covers a number of Goods & Services, many of which are related toĀ “amusement park and amusement park events.”
Perhaps most notably, there is a specific mention in the application of “organization, management, or arrangement of kart racing,” which could be referencing possible plansĀ for Mario Kart-related attractions. It’s not fully clear what this will entail, but it’s not a stretch to imagine some kind of Mario-themed go-karting tracks installed in the parks.
The Super Nintendo World trademark application also mentions “video game apparatus” such as machines andĀ hotel accomodation services, restaurant services, event venue rentals and other theme park-related objects.
For now, three parksĀ are planned for release in Universal Studios Japan, Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood. No window has been given as toĀ when they will open, though, with Nintendo and Universal simply saying they will “open separately over the next several years.”
