New Pokémon mobile game Pokéland announced for iOS and Android

The Pokémon Company has announced a new mobile game called Pokéland for iOS and Android devices. The title will allow players to battle using toy versions of popular Pokémon across multiple islands. Interestingly, the game is a mobile take on the Pokémon Rumble series, which started off as a Wii title in 2009 and has since received entries on Nintendo 3DS and Wii U.

Pokéland is currently only set for a Japanese release. The game will require an internet connection and Nintendo Account, the latter of which allowing players will be able to use their Mii avatars.

The app is currently going into an Android-only alpha test in Japan, which features six islands, 52 different stages and 134 Pokémon to try out. The alpha runs until June 9th.

There’s no word yet on an international release.

In the meantime, Canadians can play the recently-released Magikarp Jump game for iOS and Android, which focuses on the infamously useless fish-type Pokémon.

Of course, there’s also the ever-popular Pokémon Go to play. Cheaters beware, though: developer Niantic has recently been cracking down heavily on players who use third-party apps to find Pokémon more easily.
