Amazon says it received 238 headquarter proposals

Company says it received proposals from 54 different “states, provinces, districts and territories across North America”

North America is hungry for a slice of the Amazon pie.

According to Amazon, it received 238 proposals from “cities and regions in 54 states, provinces, districts and territories across North America” for the chance to host the company’s second North American headquarters.”

A number of Canadian cities were involved in the bidding process, including Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary and Halifax.

While political officials and business leaders have expressed their support for a Canadian city playing host to Amazon, there have been some outspoken critics as well.

Anthony Lacavera and Bruce Croxon have both spoken out against Amazon formally establishing a headquarters in Canada.

A few cities, including Toronto and Winnipeg, have made their bid books public.
