With Android 8.1, users can see the battery levels of Bluetooth accessories

Android Oreo

The Android 8.1 developer preview rolled out yesterday and with it came an update that helps with managing battery levels on Bluetooth-connected accessories.

The feature shows users battery percentages for their Bluetooth devices through the Quick Settings panel.

This is not the first time Bluetooth device battery levels hit Android — the tool debuted on the Pixel 2 and 2 XL with Android 8.0, but required a long-press of the Bluetooth tile in Quick Settings to access.

In Android 8.1, users can see a little battery indicator right next to the Bluetooth icon.

Other features that are coming to the Pixel and Pixel XL with 8.1 include a floating power menu and search bar at the top of the Settings menu.

Owners of the Nexus 5X and 6P, as well as the Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, can try out Android 8.1 immediately by signing up for the Android Beta Program or flashing your device with the Developer Preview system image.
