Apple has reportedly terminated an iPhone X engineer after his daughter’s hands-on video with the phone went viral.

Last week, YouTuber Brooke Amelia Peterson released a vlog intended to chronicle her visit with her father on Apple’s campus. Partway through the video, Peterson’s father let her try out the smartphone, which releases on November 3rd.

Her video shows some close-up screen footage of Peterson using the iPhone X, where notes appearing to reveal QR codes and codenames for unreleased products can be seen.

Apple’s company policy prohibits filming on campus.

In a tearful followup video, Peterson says that her family understands why her father was fired, but she hopes that people do not hate on him online for the mistake.

“At the end of the day when you work for Apple, it doesn’t matter how good of a person you are, if you break a rule, they just have no tolerance,” said Peterson. “Apple really did like my dad. And they let him go. Because he broke a rule. It was an innocent mistake, and he fully apologizes.”

Apple has not yet issued a statement on the matter.
