Freedom Mobile brings back data-only tablet plan, offers free LG G Pad IV 8.0

Freedom Mobile is now once again offering a data-only plan, with the introduction of the promo tablet $15 plan with 4GB of LTE data.

The new data-only plan arrived alongside a budget tablet — the LG G Pad IV 8.0 — which the carrier is currently offering for free on a two-year postpaid contract. And free doesn’t just mean $0 down in this case, it means you don’t have to pay for the device at all, as long as you stay on your two-year contract.

Freedom is offering a $300 credit that covers the entire cost of the tablet as long as the customer remains subscribed for the entirety of their two-year term. If they leave before two years, Freedom says they’ll be on the hook for “all, or a prorated part, of the MyTab bonus discount […] received at the time of activation.”

For Red Flag Deals users, however, the more exciting part of this deal is the data-only 4GB line for $15 per month, which some likely hope to use in another tablet or smartphone — though it’s unclear whether Freedom has set up some sort of safeguard to protect against that.

The promotional plan offer is available to new and existing customers until November 23rd.

The LG G Pad IV 8.0 features an 8-inch 1080p display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage and a 3,000mAh battery.

In comparison, Fido has the tablet available for $149 down on a two-year tablet plan, which provides 3GB of data for $15 per month.
