Google Assistant is now able to help with troubleshooting the Pixel 2

Google Assistant on Pixel 2

It appears Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL users — and potentially owners of other Android smartphones, as well — will soon be able to converse with Google Assistant to troubleshoot issues with their smartphone.

An Android Police reader using a Pixel 2 with the latest Android 8.1 developer preview was able to initiate a troubleshooting conversation with Google Assistant after asking the AI-powered personal helper why their smartphone’s battery wasn’t charging to 100 percent.

In attempting to address the issue, Assistant ran a battery health check and tried to determine if any apps were causing battery drainage issues. After exhausting all other options, it offered to put the reader in touch with Google tech support. Android Police founder Artem Russakovskii was able to replicate the conversation using his Pixel 2. In addition, staff from the website were able to have similar conversations with Assistant regarding camera and Wi-Fi connectivity issues.

Since Android Police published its article, Google has updated its Pixel battery and Bluetooth support pages to reference the fact that Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL users can use Assistant to start troubleshooting any issues.

I’ve been able to replicate the conversation on my Pixel 2, which is currently on Android 8.0.

Let us know in the comment section if you’re able to ask Assistant to help you with troubleshooting your Pixel 2.
