Freedom Mobile offers up to $200 credit for BYOD activations

freedom mobile store - freedom lte plan

As part of its ‘Early Black Friday’ promotion, Freedom Mobile is offering up to $200 credits for customers who bring their own phones to the carrier and sign on to certain plans.

Those who bring their own device to the carrier and activate a Big Gig or Big Gig + Everywhere Canada plan will receive a $200 credit that reduces their bill by $10 per month over 20 months.

That means a $60 Big Gig plan with 10GB of data and unlimited calling would be $50 for the next 20 months, under this promotion.

Meanwhile, those who activate their own device on a Home 40 plan will receive a $100 credit that reduces their bill by $10 per month over 10 months.

The two deals are on offer to both Pay Before and Pay After customers. Freedom’s fineprint notes that the account will no longer be eligible for the promotion if they change their rate plan to a non-eligible plan, sign up for MyTab or port their number away from Freedom.

While the offer is extremely enticing, potential customers may want to keep in mind that Freedom still doesn’t guarantee that unlocked smartphones will work seamlessly on Band 66 LTE. That said, the carrier has promised its LTE will work with the vast majority of existing devices in the near future.

The carrier is also offering bonus MyTab Boosts of up to $430 as part of its Early Black Friday deals campaign. Currently, all of Freedom’s devices are $0 down, depending on the plan.

Both offers end November 23nd, ahead of the carrier’s real Black Friday deals.
