Google Lens is now available right in Google Assistant on Pixel devices [Update]

Google Lens

It looks like you no longer need to open up Google Photos to use Lens.

Users have reported that Lens is now available in Google Assistant on both the Pixel and Pixel 2 devices. Tapping the camera button while using the AI assistant now performs a search when you snap a photo.

Lens is able to identify what you’re looking at, search the web and launch other apps. Users are also now able to rate results, allowing Google to continuously refine Lens overtime.

The feature hasn’t landed on our Pixel 2 XL at the MobileSyrup office, but Google says it is rolling out now. This shift makes switch more convenient and easier to use.

Is Lens available directly through your Pixel’s camera yet? Let us know in the comment section.

Update: Google has posted a note on its blog stating Lens will rollout in the coming weeks. “Google Lens in the Assistant will be rolling out to all Pixel phones set to English in the U.S., U.K., Australia, Canada, India and Singapore over the coming weeks. Once you get the update, go to your Google Assistant on your phone and tap the Google Lens icon in the bottom right corner.”
