Sony’s Xperia Touch interactive projector is now available at Bell’s flagship store for $1,999.99

After first being revealed in early 2017, Sony Mobile’s Android-based interactive projector, the Xperia Touch, has now arrived in Canada — though it’s still fairly exclusive.

The projector carries an exceedingly premium $1,999.99 CAD price tag and is only available, starting today, at the Bell flagship store in the Toronto Eaton Centre.

The Xperia Touch turns flat surfaces into 23-inch HD touchscreens through a horizontal or vertical ultra-short throw laser projection. The touch technology works through a combination of infrared light and real-time detection via its built-in camera, at a rate of 60 frames-per-second. It can also project up to 80 inches on the wall.

Based on Android 7.0, users can access Google Play apps from Skype to social media to online video streaming services like Netflix.  It also supports some PlayStation 4 titles using PS4 Remote Play.

Additionally, it features a 13-megapixel Exmore RS camera and two-way stereo speaker for group video chatting.

In a hands-on with a pre-production unit much earlier this year, MobileSyrup’s Teddy Kritsonis found that the touch sensitivity was “surprisingly good,” but was unable to test out all of the features.
