Canadian-made hit 2D run-and-gun gameĀ CupheadĀ has been nominated for three Webby Awards.
Cuphead,Ā which is developed by Oakville, Ontario-based Studio MDHR, is up forĀ ‘Best Action Game,’ ‘Best Visual Design‘ and ‘Best Art Direction‘ at the Webby Awards, which honours excellence on the internet.
Unlike many awards ceremonies, the public has a say in the Webby Awards, with voting open until Thursday, April 19th.
CupheadĀ isn’t the only Canadian-made Webby nominee, either, as the ReBlink app used in the Art Gallery of Ontario is also up forĀ āBest Use of Augmented Reality.’
Fans can cast their votesĀ here.
Even without fan input, though,Ā CupheadĀ has swept up quite the handful of industry awards over the past several months.
The game won three awards at both December’s Game Awards ceremonyĀ (includingĀ āBest Independent Game’) and February’s D.I.C.E. Awards (including ‘Outstanding Achievement in Animation’) and ‘Best Debut Game’ and ‘Best Visual Art’ at the Game Developers Choice Awards in March.
Cuphead‘s next awards opportunity is in the BAFTA Game Awards on Thursday, April 12th, where the game has been nominated in four different categories, including ‘Best Debut Game.’
Studio MDHR has also sold over two million copies of the game since its launch on Xbox One and PC in September 2017.
