Westworld’s showrunners plan to reveal the entire plot of season two in an effort to prevent spoilers [Update]

Sorry, wait... what?

Update 04/10/2018: It turns out the Season 2 reveal amounted to little more than an elaborate Rickroll. You can watch the full video at this link.

Following Reddit and other online communities ruining the first season of Westworld for many by predicting the TV show’s entire first season — including some of its most significant twists and turns — showrunners Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy have revealed a controversial plan to protect the TV show’s second season from spoilers.

During a recent Reddit AMA, Nolan explained that in order to safeguard season two’s biggest plot points, the team behind the show are considering creating a video that outlines the entire plot of the HBO TV Show’s second season. Yes, you read that correctly.

The idea is that those who have seen the video will act as gatekeepers and will work with the show’s creators to protect the season’s key moments from the larger community — similar to what A Song of Ice and Fire did for Game of Thrones.

That said, a few minute synopsis video is a very different thing from having an entire book series. This all around just sounds like a bad plan any way you look at it.

While this may make sense in theory, in practice what’s more likely to occur is spoilers being posted across all corners of the internet. Nolan states in the Reddit post that the recap video will only be released if it receives 1,000 upvotes on Reddit (it hasn’t quite hit this mark yet).

It’s also possible that this is an elaborate scheme to feed fans disinformation regarding the television show’s anticipated second season.

A mobile version of Westworld is soon coming to iOS. The game is currently available in beta on Android.

Update 04/09/2018 9:03pm: The Reddit post has now hit 1000 upvotes.
