Google Home just got a little more Canadian with new NHL hockey knowledge

Google home just learned a lot more about the NHL

Google Assistant Hockey

Google is adding more hockey knowledge to Google Assistant for the 2018 NHL Stanley Cup playoffs.

Soon users will be able to say “ok Google, tell me a playoff memory” and the assistant will be able to tell a story like Wayne Gretzky’s famous high stick, or other NHL playoff moments.

Not only are the memories being added to the assistant’s knowledge base, but a variety of other hockey-related questions are included as well, such as “ok Google, tell me a hockey Joke,” “tell me a hockey fact,” or “tell me a hockey quote.”

Adding in these types of questions to Google Assistant’s already wide sports knowledge base makes the assistant a little more colourful. Previously it was capable of of telling users the score of a specific game, a team’s standings, when the next game for a team is scheduled and if a team won or lost.

Google Assistant also has a bit more of a hockey personality so users can even ask it who its favourite hockey team is, if it plays hockey, does it like hockey and who it thinks will win the cup this season.

These features will work with Google Assistant on both the Android and in Google Home device
