Saskatchewan carrier SaskTel has announced that it expects its customers to send 10.2 million text messages on Mother’s Day (May 13th) alone.

As well, the company says it estimates that approximately 105,000 GB of wireless data will be used on the 13th — equivalent to streaming roughly 35,000 hours of HD video.

Finally, SaskTel predicts that over 1,060,000 calls will be made on Mother’s Day.

“Our networks offer customers a number of ways to connect with their loved ones,” said Doug Burnett, SaskTel acting president and CEO, in a press statement. “With many families spread across the province, country and globe, we understand it’s not always possible to get together. So, it gives us a great sense of pride knowing that what we do allows our customers the opportunity to catch up with mom on her special day.”

SaskTel suggests that its customers try calling outside of peak hours, which fall during 10am and 2pm and between 7:30pm and 10pm.
