Android P ditches ‘app is using battery’ notification, says Google

Android Oreo introduced a somewhat annoying notification that tells users when an app is using their battery. Now Google says that Android P will get rid of this feature.

This was announced during Google I/O “What’s new in Android” session, according to 9to5Google.

The purpose of the functionality was so that users could know which apps were consuming too much battery. However, it also appeared with apps running in the background, like Play Music and Maps.

While the feature is still enabled in the first two Developer Previews it will not make it to the live version of Android P.

Android P also introduces new features like iPhone X-like gestures, a revamped recent app design and Google Actions.
