Samsung to integrate Bixby into all of its IoT products by 2020

Samsung plans to integrate its Bixby personal assistant in the greater variety of devices, the company revealed at a press conference on Thursday in South Korea.

The company told South Korea’s Yonhap News that it will put Bixby into all of its IoT-related products, including ovens and robot cleaners, by 2020. While Samsung initially shipped Bixby alongside the Galaxy S8 and S8+, the company has since integrated the AI into a variety of other devices, including TVs, refrigerators and washers.

Samsung says it envisions a scenario in which homeowners can return home, say, ‘Hi, Bixby. I’m home” and the AI will turn on the air conditioning, air purifiers and lights.

The company added that it will partner with competing AI research centers and seek out mergers to bolster the AI capabilities of Bixby.
