Google and LG partner to create a super high resolution OLED display

This display is working to help make VR even better

Google has been working with LG to create a super high-resolution OLED display for AR and VR products.

The new display has a pixel density of 1,443 pixels per inch (PPI), which dwarfs the 461 ppi of the Oculus Rift’s display.

Google showed off this new tech at Display Week 2018.

The display also has a refresh rate of 120Hz. Google claims that this display is the worlds highest resolution OLED on a glass panel.

This is the first time that the company has shown off this display, but it has been hinting at it in the past. At the 2017 display conference, the head of Google’s AR/VR division, Clay Bavor, hinted Google was working on an advanced display.

Google has shared a paper with the Journal of the Society for Information Display for that details the science that went into making the display.
