Acer is bringing a few new Chromebooks to market that are getting closer to competing with Google’s Pixelbook in terms of build-quality.
The two 13-inch notebooks are called the Acer Chromebook Spin 13 and the Acer Chromebook 13. Acer also announced a larger Chromebook called the Spin 15.
Acer is calling the two 13-inch models business class, meaning that they are more in line with the high-end Chromebook market.
Both of these machines even have a 3:2 aspect ratio that is the same as Google’s Pixelbook. They also feature the 8th generation of Intel’s Core chipsets. The Chromebooks are both outfitted with 2 USB type-C ports for charging and data transfer.
Both of these models will feature an all aluminum design and a full HD screen that features a 2256 x 1504 pixel resolution. These features give the notebooks a superior build quality over the traditionally plastic Chromebooks.
Acer claims the 15-inch Spin will have a 14-hour battery life. The 15-inch model is more budget focused but will still be equipped with a full HD display. Where the budget aspects shine through are with the Intel Pentium or Celeron processors and a maximum 64GB of built-in storage.
The Spin models both feature a 360-degree hinge, allowing the notebook to be used in a more tablet-esque fashion. The smaller business-focused Spin also comes with a Wacom stylus that can be stored in a slot inside the computer.
Neither of the 13-inch devices have pricing available yet, but the 15-inch Spin starts at $449 USD.
It’s unclear, but the 13-inch Chromebooks could be part of the Chromebook ‘master board’ spec that was discovered back at the beginning of May.
