The update includes Android TV's new user interface

Nvidia has starting rolling Android 8.0 to the Shield TV.

With the update, Nvidia’s Shield Experience is now on version 7.0.

The Shield TV's new interface

The Shield TV’s Oreo update introduces Android TV’s new user interface to the device. If you still have a Nexus Player sitting around or if you’ve ever used a TV Guide in the past, you’ll be familiar with the interface.

The interface allows users to re-order their favourite apps in whatever way they see fit. Underneath the ‘Apps’ row is a ‘Play Next’ row that allows the user to continue where they left off in their most recent TV shows, movies and games. Lastly, underneath that the user’s favourite individual apps follow, allowing them to see new content from those apps at a glance. Once again, users can reorganize these how they see fit.

In addition, the update adds support for four new games — Shadowgun Legends, Crashlands, Morphite and Dandara — as well as updates the Shield TV to the latest Android security patch, among other improvements.
