Health Canada expands recall of uncertified USB chargers

The chargers were found to "pose an unacceptable risk of electric shock and fire

Health Canada is continuing to investigate potentially dangerous third-party USB chargers around Canada, adding seven more to its list of recalls.

The new chargers bring the total list of recalls to 37 unique products and thousands, with hundreds of thousands of items affected.

All of the chargers in this latest batch were obtained in Alberta and British Columbia, at locations ranging from ESSO gas stations to CMS Famous Toys in Edmonton, Alberta.

Health Canada says the recalled products “were found to pose an unacceptable risk of electric shock and fire.”

Those concerned about whether they might have items on the list can check Health Canada’s website for more details.
