Latest Essential Phone Android P beta includes June security patch, stability fixes and more

Essential Phone in 'Pure White'

Less than a day after Google released its latest Android P Developer Preview, Essential is here with an Android P build of its own.

Essential announced on Wednesday that the PH-1’s Android P build is moving from developer preview to beta. The Essential Phone Android P Beta 1 includes the latest code from Google DP3, Android’s June security patch, improvements to the device’s adaptive brightness range, as well as various stability fixes.

If you’ve already flashed your Essential Phone with DP2, this update will come as an OTA. That is, all you need to do is wait for the update to arrive on your phone. If you’re thinking about installing the beta on your device, Essential provides instructions on how to do so on its website.

Following the Bloomberg report that stated Essential founder Andy Rubin was exploring a sale of the company, Essential reaffirmed its commitment to providing the PH-1 with two years of software updates and three years of security support.
