Popular mobile game ‘Mass for the Dead’ officially launches in North America

Currently available on iOS, Google Play and Amazon devices

Anime streaming service Crunchyroll’s game development arm has launched Mass for the Dead, a mobile game based on the popular dark fantasy anime Overlord.

Crunchyroll Games says this is the anime’s first mobile game. The game hit 100,000 combined pre-registrants and social media followers before its official North American launch.

The mobile dark fantasy RPG launched early last year in Japan. It has surpassed more than more million downloads to date in the land of the rising sun.

Mass for the Dead features turn-based command battles, competitions alongside friends, double speed and auto-mode capabilities to battle against enemies. Anyone who installs the game for a limited time will receive the max tier of 1,000 Chaos Stones as a reward.

Fans of the series will have the chance to step into the shoes of their favourite Overlord characters. In addition, Satoshi Hino, Yumi Hara and Sumire Uesaka will reprise their roles as their respective Overlord characters in the game alongside English subtitles.

Overlord tells the story of veteran player Momonga who refuses to log out from a popular MMORPG scheduled to shut down permanently. As non-player characters (NPCs) begin to develop personalities and minds of their own, he decides to put his skills to use as the game’s new overlord.

Mass for the Dead is now available on iOS, Google Play and Amazon devices.
