CES 2021 to be held in-person in Las Vegas again next year

This is sounds like wishful thinking

Most upcoming events have been cancelled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, but Las Vegas’ Consumer Electronics Show (CES) has announced that it’s planning to hold an in-person conference in January 2021.

The organizers plan to give exhibitors a way to show off their products both digitally and physically at the event. Fans of the show can also expect a lot more live streams this year as people look for new ways to connect with the public.

CES 2019 took place just as the COVID-19 pandemic was beginning. There have been reports regarding the conference being pivotal in the spread of the virus given thousands of people from around the world descended on Vegas for the convention.

The group behind the show plans to implement new cleaning practices and social distancing protocols for CES 2020.

I don’t know how much I’m sold on this. I was at CES 2019 event and it’s massive, with thousands of people constantly moving around. While I’m sure extra cleaning can help, it’s not going to stop germs from spreading at CES.

CES’ organizing body promises to continue releasing updates as it gets closer to the event.
