Sonos Roam portable speaker reportedly coming next month

It's expected to ship on April 20

A new Sonos device reportedly set to ship next month is a portable speaker called the ‘Sonos Roam.’

Most of this news comes from The Verge, but a recent FCC filing also helps back up the speaker’s existence.

Sonos is expected to ship the Roam on April 20th with a price of $169 USD (roughly $213 CAD).

As you can see below, the Sonos Roam (left) is much smaller than the Sonos Move (right). To be more specific, the Roam measures in at 16.5 x 6.35 x 6.35cm (6.5 x 2.5 x 2.5-inches) and weighs about 0.4kg (1lb). The Move, however, measures 24 x 16 x 12.5cm (6.29 x 6.29 x 4.96-inches) and weighs just over 2.7kg (6lbs).

Sonos Roam and Move

The battery life will be about 10 hours at full charge, and the speaker reportedly comes with a USB charging cable. Much like the Move, the Roam will also be compatible with both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Given its size and shape, the Roam will likely be much easier to use on the go.

It’s expected Sonos will reveal a new device at a virtual event on March 9th. It’s unclear if the new product will be Sonos Roam or the company’s often rumoured wireless headphones.
