Here are the outage credits offered by Rogers flanker brands and resellers

The July 8th Rogers outage impacted more than just Rogers customers -- these providers are also offering compensation

Following the nationwide July 8th Rogers network outage, the company promised it would credit customers the equivalent of two days’ worth of service. Rogers later upped that to a credit for five days’ worth of service.

However, Rogers’ network outage impacted more than just Rogers, so some might be wondering what — if any — credits will come down the pipe from their provider, whether that’s a flanker brand or reseller.

But before we get into it, it’s worth noting that no matter if you subscribe directly to Rogers or get services from another company, be aware of scams related to bill credits. So far, everyone that has offered a credit has said they will apply it automatically. If you get a text message or email asking you to do something to get the credit — like clicking a link — don’t do it.

Anyway, let’s get into it.

Fido

Rogers flanker brand Fido confirmed via its ‘Fido Solutions’ Twitter account that it would automatically credit customers five days’ worth of service following the outage.

Chatr

Similarly, Rogers flanker brand Chatr will offer customers five days’ worth of service as an automatic credit.

TekSavvy

Update 19/07/2022 at 10:28am ET: TekSavvy confirmed plans to apply a five-day pro-rated credit to customers impacted by the July 8th Rogers outage. In an email to customers, TekSavvy said:

“A recent Rogers network failure resulted in an outage in your TekSavvy internet service. We understand that this was a disruptive and difficult event for our customers.

“We are now turning our attention to addressing the elephant in the room. Credits. TekSavvy will be applying a 5-day pro-rated credit directly to your TekSavvy account(s). The network failure credit will appear on your first invoice after July 20, 2022. There is no action required on your part to receive this credit.

“From all of us here at TekSavvy, we appreciate your continued support and understanding.”

Oxio

Update 14/07/2022 at 07:45pm ET: Oxio confirmed to MobileSyrup that it is now offering customers a five day credit to match Rogers:

“After Rogers’ latest announcement to offer a 5-day pro-rated credit to its customers, we worked hard (especially our developers) to change the credit process that was already underway to increase our compensation from 2 days to 5 days (still pro-rated). We hope we’ll get compensation from Rogers and we are working in that direction. Just know that if we do get any further compensation, it will go directly back to you! Just like the first credit, you should see it on one of your next two bills.”

Zoomer Wireless

Zoomer Wireless, which uses the Rogers network for phone service, shared a similar update to Rogers’ on its website. Zoomer will automatically add a five-day credit to customers’ August bill.

Thanks Tom!

Tbaytel

Tbaytel will also offer customers for the July 8th Rogers outage. The provider shared a notice on its Maintenance Outages page noting that it will automatically provide a “proactive credit for the time of the outage” to customers on next month’s bill.

Thanks Stephen!
