Bell and Warner Bros. Discovery extend Crave content deal, settle dispute

As part of the new agreement, Bell says its "settled all matters" in its recent dispute with the American media giant over Discovery-branded channels

Bell Media has extended its licensing deal with Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) on the entertainment giant’s sizeable content catalogue.

Crave has long been the exclusive Canadian streaming home of titles from WBD’s various labels, including HBO and Max, and an agreement was reached last year to renew that deal. Now, Bell says this partnership has been extended for “multiple years,” although an exact number wasn’t specified.

Under the deal, Crave will continue to have exclusive streaming rights to HBO series like The Last of Us, House of the Dragon and The White Lotus, blockbuster movies like Furiosa: A Mad Max Story, Barbie and Dune: Part Two, the Harry Potter franchise (including the upcoming TV series adaptation), popular sitcoms like Friends and The Big Bang Theory and more.

Interestingly, Bell’s press release also buries some other notable news. According to the company, it has “settled all matters” in its recent dispute with WBD over Bell’s Discovery-branded channels. Earlier this year, Bell went to court to block Rogers from broadcasting Discovery’s lifestyle content on linear channels. Bell was vague about what, exactly, this settlement entails but confirmed that “changes to Bell Media-owned Discovery channels will be made available in the coming weeks.”
