The Big Three flanker brands, Fido, Koodo and Virgin Plus have all rolled out $34/60GB 4G plans for Black Friday.
Update Nov. 29, 2024 at 1:37pm ET: Koodo and Fido have now joined Virgin Plus in offering $39/100GB plans. The original story continues below.
There are some notable differences between the three providers. Both Fido and Virgin offer built-in Canada/U.S. calling and texting on their plans (this is not roaming, but calling and texting from Canada to the U.S.). Moreover, they both cap 4G data speeds at up to 150Mbps.

Fido’s $34/60GB and $44/80GB plans.
Koodo, on the other hand, caps 4G data speeds at up to 100Mbps. At the time of writing, Koodo didn’t include Canada/U.S. calling on the $34/60GB plan, though that may change throughout the day.

To get the $34 price at Fido and Koodo, you need to sign up for autopay. However, Virgin’s pricing doesn’t require an autopay discount.

Virgin Plus also one-upped the others by launching a $39/100GB 4G plan with Canada/U.S. calling. At the time of writing, Fido and Koodo still had $44/80GB plans, though I expect they’ll move to match Virgin at some point.
The $34/60GB and $39/100GB plans are both for bring-your-own-phone (BYOP) customers. These plans are moves in the right direction, finally surpassing some of last year’s offers like the $34/50GB plan offered by several providers.
