As expected, the Big Three flanker brands Koodo, Fido and Virgin Plus ended Black Friday deals and raised prices across the board, though surprisingly not in unison (for now).
Koodo
Koodo now has the following plans:
- $35/mo talk and text ($30 with autopay) – previously $25 ($20 with autopay).
- $44/20GB 4G ($39 with autopay) – new.
- $49/40GB 4G ($44 with autopay) – new.
- $54/60GB 4G ($49 with autopay) – previously $39 ($34 with autopay).
- Removed: $44/100GB ($39 with autopay).

This likely goes without saying, but now is very much not a good time to sign up with Koodo. The new plans are quite a bit more expensive than before, with the 60GB plan clocking in at $15/mo more than before. Looking at it another way, yesterday Koodo offered 100GB of data for $39 (with autopay) — today, that same monthly spend gets you just 20GB. Yikes.
Perhaps the most egregious change here is the talk and text plan, which wasn’t even on sale for Black Friday but received a $10/mo price hike.
Koodo’s new prices are worse than plans it had before Black Friday too. Prior to the big sale, Koodo had a $39/50GB plan (with autopay) and a $44/60GB plan (with autopay), compared to $39/20GB and $49/60GB plans now.
If, for some reason, you want to check out Koodo’s plans, you can find them here.
Virgin Plus
Next up is Virgin Plus, which surprised me by keeping the same 60GB and 100GB plans, but raising the prices by $5/mo. Notably, Virgin doesn’t offer autopay discounts like Koodo and Fido, so the price you see is what you get (until it raises prices for you in six to 12 months).
- $39/60GB 4G with Canada/U.S. calling (previously $34).
- $44/100GB 4G with Canada/U.S. calling (previously $39).
- $25/mo talk and text (unchanged).

While I still would advise against picking up one of these plans now since they cost more, Virgin’s plans at least are much better than what Koodo has post-Black Friday.
Virgin’s current plans are also better than what Virgin offered before Black Friday. Before the sale, Virgin dropped all plans except for one $44/60GB plan.
Here’s hoping these plans stick around, but given that Virgin’s offers are better than the others, it remains to be seen if Virgin changes things up to match the others, or if the others come down to Virgin’s level. You can check out Virgin’s plans here.
Fido
Finally, we have Fido with the following plans:
- $37.50/2GB 4G (unchanged).
- $64/60GB 4G with Canada/U.S. calling) ($44/mo after autopay and $10/mo credit).
- $59/80GB 4G with unlimited calling to seven countries ($49/mo after autopay).
- Unlimited calls and texts from Canada to the U.S., Bangladesh, China, Hong Kong, India, Mexico, and the U.K.
- $30 talk and text ($20 after autopay discount).

Fido’s plans have gone up in price, though there is some weirdness going on with bill credits. During Black Friday, it offered $34/60GB and $39/100GB plans like Koodo and Virgin. The 60GB plan now costs $44/mo after autopay and a $10 monthly credit, while the 100GB plan has been reduced to 80GB and now costs $49, $5/mo more than before.
The current prices are better than pre-Black Friday, which included $44/20GB, $49/40GB and $54/60GB plans (after autopay).
