Telus rolls out new, more expensive plans following Black Friday

Telus has rolled out new plans to replace its discounted Boxing Day offers.

Here’s what’s new (note all the prices include $5 autopay discounts):

• $105/200GB 5G+ Canada/U.S./Mexico – previously $90/200GB
• $95/200GB 5G+ Canada/U.S./Mexico (BYOP only) – previously $60/200GB
• $85/175GB 5G+ – new
• $75/175GB 5G+ (BYOP only) – previously $55/200GB
• $75/100GB 5G+ – new
• $65/100GB 5G+ (BYOP only)
• $30 talk and text – unchanged

Aside from being notably more expensive than the Black Friday offers, Telus’ new plans are also more expensive than they were before Black Friday.

The company’s top-line Canada/U.S./Mexico plan with 200GB of data now costs $15 more per month than it did before Black Friday. Likewise, the company’s $85/175GB plan is up $15 from the $70/175GB plan it had on November 18th.

It likely goes without saying, but this is a bad time to switch providers. At this point, it’s a good idea to wait until Boxing Week, where we’ll likely see the return of decent deals that hopefully match or beat Black Friday.
