Bell expanded its Boxing Week offers with a new add-a-line plan available exclusively to existing customers.
The new plan includes 50GB of unlimited, shareable 5G data (speeds capped at up to 250Mbps) for $39/mo. The ‘unlimited’ data means that customers who go over the 50GB allotment can keep using data at no extra charge, but speeds are reduced significantly to 256Kbps.
Bell’s website notes the plan also includes SD video streaming, which means the carrier limits video quality streamed over its network to 480p with this plan. It also includes unlimited calling, texting and data in Canada, unlimited international texting sent from Canada, and free Crave Basic with Ads.
Notably, the plan costs $75/mo but is reduced to $39 via a $26/mo add-a-line credit and a $10/mo autopay discount.
The $39/50GB plan joins Bell’s $65/100GB and $95/200GB Canada/U.S./Mexico Boxing Week offers.
While the $39/mo price is decent for Bell, it’s worth pointing out that the $39/50GB plan isn’t the best value out there. For one, it’s an add-a-line plan, which limits availability to existing Bell mobility customers. Further, there are several provider offering similarly-priced plans with a lot more.
That includes Freedom and Public, which both have $35/50GB 5G Canada/U.S./Mexico plans (Freedom’s price includes a temporary discount and an autopay discount). Fido, Koodo and Virgin Plus all have $39/100GB 4G plans, as well as $34/60GB 4G plans.
Personally, I’d rather go with one of those options than Bell’s add-a-line plan, but for anyone who has a few Bell lines already and needs to add another, this looks like a solid option.
