Niche internet forum DSL Reports has reportedly shut its doors, leaving many tech and infrastructure nerds out in the cold. There has been no announcement of a closure, but the site has been offline for days.
The site was founded in the spring of 1999 and was popular among nerds who discussed home networking and other tech-related topics. Here at MobileSyrup, we’ve used the site many times to find leads on stories relating to Canadian telecom providers.
Since the site shut down more than five days ago, there have been numerous posts across other online forums of people mourning the death of DSL Reports. The site has been on the decline over the past decade or so but it was still frequented by some.
If I had to guess, I’d expect that Reddit would replace the site for many users, but other sites are also popping up as well. One user-created site is called Broadband Bulletin. Another user also posted links to archived versions of DSL Reports, for anyone that wants to check out the site one last time.
