Google’s new Gemini overlay is now available on more Android devices. The overlay was first available on the S25 series but quickly became available on other devices, like my Pixel 9 Pro and the OnePlus 13.
The new overlay is a simple bar that you can type in, with a microphone icon, another icon for Gemini Live and a plus sign so you can attach images from your camera or photos gallery. You can tap the microphone icon to make Gemini stop or start listening to your voice.
The new UI makes it easier to ask about information on your screen or ask about a video.
This seems to be a server-side update, but if you haven’t noticed the UI change, you should probably update your Google app.
Gemini also works better across multiple apps; you only need to say it all in one go. You can now ask Gemini to look up different lunch ideas, add them directly to Google Keep and send them to your friends in a text message.
In my hands-on experience with the Samsung Galaxy S25, we discussed this feature more in-depth.
You can also now add images, files and YouTube videos to your Gemini Live conversations.
